inilah cintaku

menyayangi tapi tidak mengharap dikasihi
merindui tapi tidak kesal dilupai
biar aku membendung sengsara jiwa
dan engkau bebas bagai unggas
malam-malam ku dipenuhi dengan tangisan
dan siang diseliputi kesangsian dan keresahan
harapan tetap terhias untuk mu
pintu-pintu doa ku buka luas
agar hidayah
pentunjuk
dan kesolehan dianugerahkan pada mu

aku tidak lagi mencari penjelasan
di darat di laut
aku tetap lemas
dihempas gelora rasa
dugaan ini bisakah dipersoalkan?

hari hari aku meminjam doa Zulaikha
dekatkan dia pada ku atau padamkan rasa ini buat selamanya
jauhkan aku dari biasnya
jauhkan aku dari kelibatnya
aku tidak rela jadi penderhaka
jangan sepalit maksiat menodai cinta
antara aku dan Engkau
di malam-malam yang amat sepi
dengarlah tangisku
lihatlah hibaku
merayu-rayu keampunan
berilah sakinahMU

pun kecurigaan masih lagi menghantui
restu dan belas
aku redha jika ini ketentuanMu
berilah aku kesabaran bermujahadah
di setiap penghujung malam
dan memanjat kesyukuran
nimat-nikmatMu yang tak terhitung
walau ketika dilanda gelora rasa
hati kecil ku terkoyak luka

TANPA MU

tanpa Mu
bagaimana ku redah sepi malam
bila kekasih-kekasih menyisihkan cinta
aku terbiar dan kalbu lesu menanti bicara
memujuk rajuk yang panjang

tanpa Mu
bagaimana bisa ku merasa dingin embun
menyusun tapak-tapak rindu
menagih redha dan keampunan
Kau yang melihat
Kau yang mentafsir
kesunyian ini

aku malu
aku ragu
apakah pengakuan ini kudus
dosa noda membalut hubungan kita
mampukah aku meraih belas MU
terimalah aku yang serba lemah
lalai dan mungkar
sepanjang penitian ini

tanpa Mu
alangkah kosong kamar-kamar hati
Nama siapakah yang hendak ku bisikkan
pagi, petang, siang dan malam
nama siapakah hendak ku panggil
tatkala musibah melanda
tatkala nikmat mencurah
nama siapakah yang akan membasahi lidah ini?

ampunkan aku duhai Pencipta
ampunkan aku duhai Pemelihara
ampunkan aku duhai Penyayang
beradalah di jiwa ini di setiap degup jantungku
lindungilah dan teguhkan ikatan kita
walau aku tidak layak untuk Mu
sekiranya Engkau menyiksa ku
aku adalah hambaMu yang dicipta
sekiranya Engkau mengampunkan ku
Dikaulah yang amat pengasih lagi amat penyayang...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DARLING

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DARLING

i might have forgotten your birthday
but i have not forgotten every inch of you
you are in my eyes
you are in my mind
you are in my flesh
you are in my heart
sober or drunk
your name echoes
at all corners of my conciousness

i might have forgotten your birthday
but i remember you every day of the month
every hour of the day
every moment of the hour
without fail
in love and in anger
you stage the excitement
of your presence...

so why bother a date in a year
a numerical idiosyncracy
of desperate lovers
flashing intimate moment in the facebook
or despicable blog?

nevertheless
deep from my heart i seek your forgiveness
Apathetic to the sensitivity of your concern
i emphatize your sorrow
and if i could remedy the wound
inflicted on your soul
i sacrifice my self-worth
and i pray for your happiness
your well being
in every move and word of my prayer..

MARRIAGE

Marriage
by Khalil Gibran

Then Almitra spoke again and said...
"And what of Marriage, master?"
And he answered saying:
You were born together,
and together you shall be forevermore.

You shall be together when the white wings
of death scatter your days.

Aye, you shall be together even in the
silent memory of God.

But let there be spaces in your togetherness,
And let the winds of the heavens dance between you.

Love one another, but make not a bond of love.
Let it rather be a moving sea between
the shores of your souls.

Fill each other's cup but drink not from one cup.
Give one another of your bread but eat not from the same loaf.

Sing and dance together and be joyous,
but let each of you be alone,

Even as the strings of a lute are alone
though they quiver with the same music.

Give your hearts, but not into each other's keeping.
For only the hand of Life can contain your hearts.

And stand together, yet not too near together.
For the pillars of the temple stand apart,

And the oak tree and the cypress
grow not in each other's shadow.

WORK

On Work
Kahlil Gibran

You work that you may keep pace with the earth and the soul of the earth.
For to be idle is to become a stranger unto the seasons,
and to step out of life's procession, that marches in majesty and proud submission towards the infinite.

When you work you are a flute through whose heart the whispering of the hours turns to music.
Which of you would be a reed, dumb and silent, when all else sings together in unison?

Always you have been told that work is a curse and labour a misfortune.
But I say to you that when you work you fulfil a part of earth's furthest dream, assigned to you when that dream was born,
And in keeping yourself with labour you are in truth loving life,
And to love life through labour is to be intimate with life's inmost secret.

But if you in your pain call birth an affliction and the support of the flesh a curse written upon your brow, then I answer that naught but the sweat of your brow shall wash away that which is written.

You have been told also that life is darkness, and in your weariness you echo what was said by the weary.
And I say that life is indeed darkness save when there is urge,
And all urge is blind save when there is knowledge,
And all knowledge is vain save when there is work,
And all work is empty save when there is love;
And when you work with love you bind yourself to yourself, and to one another, and to God.

And what is it to work with love?
It is to weave the cloth with threads drawn from your heart,
even as if your beloved were to wear that cloth.
It is to build a house with affection,
even as if your beloved were to dwell in that house.
It is to sow seeds with tenderness and reap the harvest with joy,
even as if your beloved were to eat the fruit.
It is to charge all things you fashion with a breath of your own spirit,
And to know that all the blessed dead
are standing about you and watching.

Often have I heard you say, as if speaking in sleep, "He who works in marble, and finds the shape of his own soul in the stone, is nobler than he who ploughs the soil.
And he who seizes the rainbow to lay it on a cloth in the likeness of man, is more than he who makes the sandals for our feet."
But I say, not in sleep but in the overwakefulness of noontide, that the wind speaks not more sweetly to the giant oaks than to the least of all the blades of grass;
And he alone is great who turns the voice of the wind into a song made sweeter by his own loving.

Work is love made visible.
And if you cannot work with love but only with distaste, it is better that you should leave your work and sit at the gate of the temple and take alms of those who work with joy.
For if you bake bread with indifference, you bake a bitter bread that feeds but half man's hunger.
And if you grudge the crushing of the grapes, your grudge distils a poison in the wine.
And if you sing though as angels, and love not the singing, you muffle man's ears to the voices of the day and the voices of the night.

CHILDREN

On Children
Kahlil Gibran

Your children are not your children.
They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself.
They come through you but not from you,
And though they are with you yet they belong not to you.

You may give them your love but not your thoughts,
For they have their own thoughts.
You may house their bodies but not their souls,
For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow,
which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.
You may strive to be like them,
but seek not to make them like you.
For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.

You are the bows from which your children
as living arrows are sent forth.
The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite,
and He bends you with His might
that His arrows may go swift and far.
Let your bending in the archer's hand be for gladness;
For even as He loves the arrow that flies,
so He loves also the bow that is stable.
